Hi – thanks for taking the time to take a look at my website. Here’s a little bit about me since I guess you are interested in reading about me, after all you must have pressed the ‘About Me’ tab right ?
ABOUT ME
I’m a British Expat living in Dubai and a relatively newbie blogger. My blog is about life in Dubai and some of my passions – coffee & cakes, fitness, exercise and running and healthy eating and cooking (and anything else which takes my fancy) from time to time.
Here’s a little more about me – I’m 46 years old and until recently was a professional sofa surfer and career lady as a result of this I got fat, very fat and was officially classed as being morbidly obese. Two years ago I took a career break from my job, had weight loss surgery and in just fourteen months lost 72kgs. When I had the surgery I vowed I would get fit as well and starting from 6 weeks after surgery with slow painful walking I’ve improved my fitness levels greatly, I’ve now run 2 10k races and two half marathons
and have more planned in 2012 and beyond. In fact as a result of my surgery, a ton of hard work and many, many hours of sweating in the gym – I fulfilled a lifetime dream in August 2012 and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro which is the 4th highest mountain in the world and the highest in Africa standing at 19,341 feet (5,895m) tall (I’m the one in the middle under about 10 layers of warm clothes !)
Take a look through my blog to find out more info about my journey
and feel free to contact me if you want to know more.
The boring stuff :
Disclaimer : I am not a fitness/nutrition/diet expert (or an expert in anything particular !)
Any opinions in this blog are my own and you should seek expert advice/guidance if you are partaking in exercise, coffee and/or cake consumption !
Further Information :
The majority of the posts about food are/were paid for by me, occasionally I am am provided with a complimentary food and/or drink and where this is so, I will elude to that in the post. I never accept payment for postings as such (by this I mean I never accept anything where I am required to write a positive post of my experience regardless of my actual experience, or where I am provided by the sponsor with pre-written text to use) therefore my reviews are based on my opinions and my personal experience.
I am a regular member of MMA Fitness Centre and am not sponsored to write about classes, these are my personal impressions and reviews of classes I have attended or participated in. Other class reviews were written based on my attendance of the class as a regular fee paying member of the public too.
Please note : Everyone of us, has a different perception of taste, flavour, value for money, favourite food and view on what is good/bad service etc – this is very subjective. I try very hard to portray my experience and to give an accurate view based on my experience – but you must appreciate this is based on my opinions and expectations which may be different than yours. Please respect this.
Thanks for dropping by

I am a Malaysian expat in Dubai. I love food as much as you I guess but not as diligent to start a blog. Maintatining the right weight is also a challenge for me. That takes effort (weight & blog writing). I love to have the opportunity to venture and try our new joints in town. For now I will be highly dependent on your recommendation. Cheers
Hi. I used to be a British Expat in Dubai – many moons ago! Interested to see if any of the cafes I used to frequent are still there! Well done with the fitness turnaround. Cath
Hi thanks, I’m sure a lot of the familiar places are still here along with a ton of new ones too. Thanks for visiting my site
I’m sure they are – even if they have had a facelift! Cath
Glad I found your blog! Moving to Dubai early 2014. Visiting next week!
Enjoy your trip, I sure do love living here
